Rules

Valley View Men’s Association plays according to the Rules of Golf as published by the USGA with the following local rules implemented for our entire playing season:

  1. All loose impediments such as rocks, sticks, leaves, pine cones, etc in bunkers can be removed. If your ball moves during the removal please replace it in its exact lie without penalty. You are not allowed to improve your lie in any way
  2. All bunkers with visible roots in your intended swing path can be played as “ground under repair” and you may place your ball in the nearest point no closer to the hole within the bunker.
  3. The electrical tower on the left side of #9 is an immovable obstruction. A player may take “swing and stance” relief no closer to the hole from the structure however, no relief for “line of flight.”

Handicap & Membership Committee Information

The Valley View Handicap Committee oversees the fair application of handicap indexes. The new committee chair is Russ Hook. If you are interested in being on the committee let Pete, Shane, or Russ know.

The handicap committee watches the following:

  1. Major fluctuations in a player’s index.
  2. Members regularly placing high in events with their index not adjusting accordingly.
  3. Combining a low association score with an outside non tournament score.
  4. Index fluctuations in the offseason. If a players handicap has increased significantly during the offseason the VVMA reserves the right to start that player at their lowest index of the past 6 months
